Welcome

Welcome to our mixed-age Year 1/2 class! We are excited to begin a year full of creativity, curiosity, and growth. Our aim is to create a warm, nurturing environment where all children feel supported, valued, and inspired to be the best version of themselves.

As our Year 1 children transition from the Early Years, we provide a caring and structured setting to help them settle in with confidence. Through activity carousels and small group work, we ensure they have stimulating, hands-on learning opportunities tailored to their stage of development. Year 2 children continue to build on this foundation, tackling exciting challenges and becoming more confident, independent learners.

Throughout the year, all children will have the chance to develop key life skills—such as resilience, cooperation, and problem-solving—through a wide range of enriching activities. We encourage them to take ownership of their learning, ask questions, work together, and rise to new challenges across the curriculum.

Creativity is at the heart of our classroom. Whether through art, music, science, drama, or PE, we offer plenty of opportunities for children to express themselves, explore ideas, and develop their talents in fun and meaningful ways. Phonics and early reading are a key focus, particularly in Year 1. We follow the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds scheme to build strong foundations in reading and help children become confident, fluent readers.

Running through everything we do is our Lindow Life Skills curriculum. It underpins our goal of helping children grow into kind, responsible, and resilient individuals who are proud of who they are and make a positive impact on the world around them.
