Year 5 - Mr Pearson & Mrs Marchington
Welcome
Welcome to Year 5!
Year 5 is an exciting stage of school. As students move into upper Key Stage 2, they begin to take more ownership of their learning, developing the skills to think critically, work more independently, and reflect on their progress. With higher expectations and a broader range of learning opportunities, Year 5 challenges pupils to extend themselves academically and personally.
Throughout the year, pupils are encouraged to explore ideas in greater depth, collaborate with others, and take on new responsibilities within the school community, such as by becoming a librarian. They develop greater resilience, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills through a variety of classroom and whole-school activities.
Year 5 also provides opportunities for enrichment and discovery beyond the classroom. Whether through special projects, outdoor learning experiences, or our trip to Jodrell Bank, children are encouraged to engage with the world around them and apply their learning in real-life contexts. It is a year of growing maturity, where children build the confidence and capability to thrive as they prepare for the final year of primary school.
