Foreign Language at Lindow Community Primary School

The vision of the Modern Foreign Languages curriculum at Lindow Community Primary School is to give every pupil:

  • The confidence to communicate in French through speaking, listening, reading and writing.
  • A secure foundation in French vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation that prepares them for future language learning.
  • An appreciation of French language and culture, and an understanding of how languages connect people and communities around the world.
  • The knowledge and skills to communicate simple ideas, ask questions and express themselves with increasing accuracy and confidence.
  • The ability to apply their language learning skills across a range of contexts using accurate and appropriate vocabulary.
  • Opportunities to develop curiosity, resilience and a willingness to take risks when learning and using a new language.
  • A lasting enthusiasm for languages and an appreciation of the benefits of being able to communicate with people from different cultures and backgrounds.

At Lindow Community Primary School, our French curriculum inspires children to develop a curiosity and appreciation for other languages and cultures. Through engaging and practical lessons, pupils build confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing in French while developing a secure understanding of key vocabulary and grammar. Learning a modern foreign language broadens children's horizons, encourages cultural awareness and equips them with valuable communication skills for their future education and life in an increasingly interconnected world.
