Sports Premium

Following the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Government introduced additional funding for primary schools to improve the provision of Physical Education (PE) and sport. This ring-fenced funding can only be used to enhance PE, sport and physical activity in schools.

The aim is to ensure that all children have the opportunity to live healthy, active lives. Regular physical activity supports pupils’ physical health, boosts mental wellbeing, improves behaviour, and helps raise achievement.

The Government recommends that children take part in at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day, with 30 minutes taking place in school. The PE and Sport Premium helps schools achieve this by funding sustainable improvements to the quality of PE lessons, sports clubs and opportunities for active play.

At Lindow Primary School, we use this funding to enhance our PE provision, broaden the range of sporting opportunities available to pupils, and encourage lifelong participation in physical activity.

Details of how we use this funding can be found in the document below.
