Specialist Deaf Curriculum

At Lindow Community Primary School, we are proud to deliver our unique Specialist Deaf Curriculum, designed to celebrate Deaf identity, culture and communication while promoting inclusion for all children.

Through engaging learning experiences, pupils develop an understanding of Deaf history and heritage, explore different communication methods including British Sign Language (BSL), and learn about access to sound and hearing technology.

The curriculum helps all our children, both deaf and hearing, build knowledge, empathy and respect, fostering a school community where everyone feels valued and belongs. As part of this commitment, we celebrate Deaf Awareness Week and BSL Week each year and provide opportunities for children to learn from Deaf role models and the wider Deaf community.
