Reception - Miss Pengelly

Welcome

Welcome to Reception!  Alongside me we have our lovely teaching assistants Mrs Lowe & Mrs Ormerod.

To view our plans for the current term please click on the Curriculum button, below.

We also have our own class dojo page where children are given dojo points for working hard, good teamwork, perseverance etc. We post messages to the closed parent group, which is great for keeping in contact and sharing current learning.

At Lindow we ensure all our new learners are well-prepared to start school by planning a robust transition programme prior to starting school in September. We know how important it is to ensure the children (and their families) quickly develop positive relationships with the Early Years staff and their peers whilst being able to become familiar with the school setting.  Our priority is to start the year with happy children who are happy to learn the new challenges and routines.

During the Reception year the children will continue on their learning journey within the Early Years framework. Learning will be a balanced combination of adult led teaching sessions, tasks and opportunities to consolidate knowledge and understanding through play activities using resources in and outside our classroom.

A guide for parents on what to expect in the Early Years Foundation Stage can be seen here or downloaded from the link below.

All our learning starts with a text and this thread runs through other areas of learning alongside our Lindow Life Skills. As Early Years professionals we continually support, question and challenge the children to deepen their understanding; providing support and intervention when required to tackle misconceptions and 'in the moment'.

Using the Lindow Life Skills and our school values of learning, caring and achieving helps us to encourage the children to persevere, be resilient and face challenges, have targets and aim to achieve to be the best version of themselves. We celebrate successes and attitudes to learning with dojos and merits whilst ensuring that intrinsic determination is encouraged.

We value parental support and cooperation and enjoy working alongside each other to help the children continually make progress. Pathways of communication are always open and accessible through various means which enable us to quickly develop strong, trustworthy relationships with our families.
