History
History at Lindow Community Primary School
The vision of the History curriculum at Lindow Community Primary School is to give every pupil:
- A secure understanding of the past and how events, people and civilisations have shaped the world we live in today.
- The knowledge and skills to investigate, question and interpret historical evidence with curiosity and confidence.
- An appreciation of the achievements, experiences and contributions of people from a wide range of cultures, societies and time periods.
- An understanding of chronology and how significant events, developments and changes have influenced the course of history.
- The ability to communicate historical understanding clearly using accurate and appropriate historical vocabulary.
- Opportunities to develop critical thinking skills by exploring different perspectives and making informed judgements about the past.
- A lasting fascination with history and an appreciation of how learning about the past helps us understand the present and shape the future.
At Lindow Community Primary School, our History curriculum inspires children to become curious and reflective learners. Through the study of local, British and world history, pupils develop a strong sense of chronology, learn to ask thoughtful questions and gain an understanding of how the past has influenced the world around them. By exploring the achievements, challenges and experiences of people throughout history, children develop respect, empathy and a deeper understanding of their place within an ever-changing society.
